Volunteer Opportunities

New Dimensions Facility
Allen Ave. at I-44 & Jefferson

Field Maintenance

Adult volunteer needed to mow the New Dimensions field on Thursdays beginning in mid-April. Lawnmower provided on-site.

Other volunteers (middle-school-aged or older) needed for general cleanup, fence painting, goal repair, organizing shed, emptying trash cans, etc. Those volunteer opportunities will be scheduled on an as-needed basis.

Saturday 10 a.m. Practices

There will be Saturday morning practices (10 am to 11:30 am) at the New Dimensions Field starting April 2. These practices continue until August. The following volunteers are needed:

Communications Coordinator

Adult volunteer needed to keep the names, phone numbers, and email addresses of the participants in Saturday practices and communicate any changes (rainouts, etc.) to them. This volunteer can also assist in getting the word out about the Saturday practice sessions to potential participants.

Practice Coaches and Helpers

Adult volunteers are needed to help coach at the Saturday morning practices, and volunteers high-school-aged or older are needed to assist with practices. Some coaching experience is helpful.

 

Watermelon League

Watermelon League takes place on Sunday afternoons/evenings in June & July (except Father’s Day and 4th of July weekend). This friendly 4v4 league has teams ranging in age from K-8. There are a variety of volunteer positions. All volunteers must arrange their own transportation to and from the fields.

4v4 Field Setup

Volunteers middle-school-aged and older can help set up the 4v4 goals and prepare the New Dimensions facility for play. Setup will begin at approximately 3:15 p.m. for the 4 p.m. start time, and volunteers should plan to arrive at that time.

Concessions

Volunteers high-school-aged and older can staff the concession stand at the New Dimensions facility. The concession stand will open at 3:45 p.m. and close at approximately 10 p.m. Shifts may be split. At least two people are needed at all times.

Watermelon-Slice Purchase, Preparation & Distribution

Volunteers middle-school-aged and older can distribute watermelon slices to players after each game. Adults are needed to purchase and cut up the watermelon. League play begins at 4 p.m. and ends at approximately 10 p.m. Shifts may be split.

Field Marshals

Volunteers aged 16 and older can act as field marshals for the 4v4 games. Field marshals should not referee games, but should observe games to make sure that Watermelon League rules regarding things such as fair play, no coaching from the sidelines, etc. are being followed. Field marshals will report any concerns to the supervisor on-site. Games begin at 4p.m. and end at approximately 10 p.m.

Takedown/Cleanup

Volunteers middle-school-aged and older can help take down the 4v4 goals and clean up the fields after Watermelon League games end at approximately 10 p.m.
